N. 1: Brano dell'Iliade di Omero (circa 1200
AC)
INGLESE (testo originale):
Zeus
was angry and said: "Era, my dear, what harm have Priam and his sons
done you that you are so bent on sacking the city of Ilius? Have it your own
way; for I would not have this become a matter of contention between us. But
I'll tell you something: if ever I want to sack a city belonging to any of
your friends, you must not try to stop me; you will have to let me do it, for
I am giving in to you against my will".
"My own three favourite
cities," answered Era, "are Argos, Sparta, and Mycenae. You can sack them
whenever you want. I shall not defend them and I shall not care. And even if
I tried to
stay you, I should take nothing by it, for you are much stronger than I am,
though I too am a god and of the same race with yourself. I am Kronos's
eldest daughter, and am honourable not on this ground only, but also because
I am your wife, and you are king over the gods".
Traduzione all'ITALIANO:
